    Fall back

Good morning, a new page is up here.

The Samurai team arrived safely back from the Amazing Arizona Comic Con. It was a great time had by all, and many thanks to all the people who stopped by, said hi, and picked up copies of both Samurai The Graphic Novel and Omnitarium. I was really taken aback by the enthusiasm and friendliness of the comic fans in Mesa.

I'm working on putting together a trade of the series. Here is a mock up cover for this -

art by J.C. GrandeI'm hoping to have preview copies of this available in time for the next convention, which will be the Wizard World Anaheim Comic Convention in March/April.

    On your head be it

Good morning all, a new page is up here.

It's just two more days until the first Amazing Arizona Comic Con - the first convention of the new year.

I'll be there with copies of Omnitarium, along with the majority of the Samurai The Graphic Novel crew.

    Hope to see you there!

We should get out of here...

Good morning all, a new page is up here.

The first of the new year.

2010 proved to be a fantastic year for me, so I'm hoping to keep some of the momentum built in that year up, into this one.

Myself and the other members of the Samurai crew will be in attendance at the Amazing Arizona Comic Con next weekend. Previewing the first issue of the anthology book, doing sketches and touting our wares. I'll have all four issues of Omnitarium in print at the show. Feel free to drop by and say hi.

I'm resolving to focus more time and energy on Hero Code in 2011. The site still remains relatively soft, but I will be focussing more on this as we come to the end of Omnitarium. Plans are afoot with the series as a whole, and I will be posting more news as and when I have it, but expect more life over there around the end of March, beginning of April.

I will also be previewing and suggestion more indie titles at on my blog. My plan is to stay away from Marvel and DC for all of 2011, and instead work on finding some great indie titles during this year. If you are the creator of a title, or know of a great published indie title, feel free to let me know, either here or on the blog.

Have a good day, all, and see you back here on Thursday for the next installment!

    Good Bye 2010!

    The latest is up here.

This is the last posting of 2010. It proved to be a good year for me. Omnitarium was completed - which seems unusual for me because I had done most of my heavy lifting in 2009 for the series, but had set myself the goal of getting the book finished this year. To have actually achieved that goal, to have self published a series in the space of one year, my first foray into published work, well, it makes me feel incredibly fortunate.

Fortunate to have been supported in this endeavor by J.C. and Bernie, and by my wonderful family. Fortunate to have created a series which people genuinely seemed to enjoy and want to read.

It has been a good year.

Most of 2010 for me was spent getting the next series going, getting books ready which will not see the light of day until 2011. Patience is a good virtue when budgets are tight!

Thanks to the Art and Story team for providing podcasted support for all indie creators out there. Sometimes all it takes is to hear put into words what you have been overthinking, and it all seems so simple.

Thanks to the Samurai Graphic Novel crew, who have all worked incredibly hard in producing a book which is beautiful. It will be debuting at the Amazing Arizona Comic Con. I, along with most of the other Samurai crew will be in attendance.

Thank you all for stopping by, twice a week, and checking out the pages. For all the comments left, and for all the help retweeting or mentioning the series out there to the big WWW.

I feel like so much was done in 2010, and yet it is just the tip of the iceberg for what is coming in 2011!

    See you next year!

PS. There is still a chance to win some goodies in the Samurai GN prize draw - just help us spread the word, and let us know your links - full details here.

    Hsssskk!

Good morning all, a new page is up here.

I've been planning what to do with the series as a whole, thinking about how to collect the book. One idea, from a discussion with Karl Altstaetter, is to have the book printed on a slightly off white, or yellow paper, giving the book an antiquated feel. It could be split into chapters and broken by manuscript inserts. Each insert could be from a different character - doctor's reports, diary entries, newspaper articles. Giving the book a slight gray spotting would also be the plan.

Again the idea of colouring the book entirely has also cropped up. The factor here is cost, of course.

If any of you have an opinion on this, feel free to leave feedback in the comments section.

In other news, I have booked my flight to the Amazing Arizona Comic Con - where I and my fellow Samurai GN creators will be unveiling the first issue of that book.

Also, work on the Hero Code is currently being rethought, following the release of Dark Horse Comics one-shot entitled The Occultist. You can read more about it here.
